Gunmen kill an aid worker in central Somalia PDF Print E-mail

MUGADISHO (DIIRAD.COM) - Unidentified gunmen have shot and killed an aid worker working for Norwegian aid agency in north part of Galk’yo town of Mudug region of central Somalia overnight, locals said on Saturday.

Ahmed Jam’a, a Somali national working for Norwegian humanitarian agency called LRC was murdered by two unknown masked gunmen, while he was heading to mosque in the north part of divided Galka’yo town in central Somalia.The gunmen were not identified so far, but investigations are underway.

Residents said, after the shooting, the security forces of Somalia’s Puntalnd administration conducted search operations in the area, which they arrested a number of local people who they suspected to be behind the killing of Ahmed Jam’a, the aid worker.

“A lot of Punland soldiers arrived at shooting scene in north of Galka’yo town and started search operations, they have arrests many residents who the blame to be behind the shooting of Mr.Jam’a,” according to eyewitnesses.

It is unclear so far the reason of the killing so far, but some Puntland security officials at the scene told that they have arrested more than two people who they suspected to be behind the murder.
