MPs welcome Kenya-Somalia agreement PDF Print E-mail

MOGADISHU (DIIRAD) – Some of Somali government’s lawmakers have cordially welcomed the cooperation agreement Somalia signed with neighboring Kenya.

The MPs have opposed the formation of new regional autonomous administrations in parts of Somalia.

Somali prime minister, Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed and his Kenyan counterpart on Monday inked an agreement deal consist of 11 articles about cooperation of the two countries in their battle against Al shabaab, which declared its allegiance to Al Qaeda network.

Abdullahi Adam Ali (Shaleete), a Somali legislator, said he has already endorsed Kenya’s military intervention in Somalia and noted they are strongly supporting Somalia-Kenya agreement.

For his part, Mowlid Ma’ane Mohamoud, another lawmaker says that if they the MPs of Somalia, they are warmly welcoming the deal.

But, he said that they are strongly against the formation of Azania State in Jubba regions of southern Somalia. Azania was recently declared in Kenya.
